Noak Hill were pleased to be able to welcome back the representatives from the Worshipful Company of Fletchers on Wednesday 19th September 2018.
After an earlier visit this year Dennis the field course representative decided to turn up the pressure with a challenging field course layout to test the archers after they had some practise on the targets that had been set out for the morning session.
It was clear there were a majority of experienced archers already to challenge for the title and there were a few less experienced archers including Tim Hurst who had not tried archery before.
Dennis had arranged a scoring system that was intended to level the playing field for the less experienced archers the only flaw in the plan was that (We needed Carol Vorderman to work it out) just kidding Dennis....
After a morning of practice the serious competition started with the archers all shooting ends on the target bosses to score points before moving off to the 18 targets set out on the field course (some of which were very challenging for both experienced and non experienced archers).
After scoring the points on the target bosses there was a lunch interval which was prepared and presented by the lovely ladies in the clubhouse, the was plenty of food glorious food on offer including cakes from Mick.
After the lunch break it was off to the field course to tackle the very windy and gusty conditions and the challenging course.
After a very challenging few hours the scores were tallied and there was a need for a third place shoot off which was organised by Dennis on the target range.
Final results were:
1st place Tim Eltringham
2nd place Andrew Trapnell
3rd place Ted Hoefling
I have upload the fantastic photos taken by John Raffin on the day and they are located in the gallery section under the tab marked Fletchers Day Sept 2018.
